Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to inform you that Twin Oaks will be conducting a practice
Lockdown drill on Friday, May 2nd.
Drills are for staff and students, and are educational opportunities to practice life safety skills. For example, evacuation drills/fire drills are conducted at schools regularly. A fire alarm goes off, students line up and head outside. Since there is no simulation of a threat or hazard, these cause less trauma while imparting important skills and muscle memory. Lockdown drills are similar. There is no simulated violence needed to conduct them. The only information needed is for the protocol to be enacted, “Lockdown, locks, lights, out of sight,” and then students and staff perform the proper functions.
For all our drills, we use the I Love You Guys Standard Response Protocols. We encourage you to look at the I Love You Guys website to educate yourself on what it is. And, if appropriate, to share what you’ve learned with your child. https://iloveuguys.org/The-Standard-Response-Protocol.html
The safety and well-being of your child is our top priority. We will continue to keep you informed about important concerns at our school.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Stephanie Randall Principal
Music Update: Dear Twin Oaks Families,
Our students are putting on a concert to celebrate a full year of learning in Music class, and you're invited!
Our show is on Thursday, May 29th at 6:00 pm in the Twin Oaks gym.
Each grade level has been working hard on songs that highlight their singing, dancing, and instrument playing. Please join us for this special showcase of Twin Oaks' musical talent!
Here's how you can help at home:
1) Make plans for your family to attend the concert. Let's pack the house for our performers!
2) Help your child practice their song(s) at home. Scripts, accompaniments, and dance steps will be sent to each grade level later this week.
3) Hype up the show! Let our performers know that you're excited to hear them sing/dance/play.
Thanks for supporting our music program here at Twin Oaks! I will send more grade-specific information as we get closer to the concert date, as well as reach out to families of students volunteering to emcee or serve on stage crew. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions and I can't wait to see you there! It's been a joy working with your children to put this show together.
- Ms. Molinari
