Twin Oaks Elementary Family Newsletter ~ June 10, 2019

Dear Twin Oaks Families,

Our students have been busy!  On May 31st, all of our fourth graders traveled to the Oregon Coast to visit the Heceta Head State Park where they hiked to the lighthouse, explored tide pools at Cape Perpetua and played on the beach.  Our fifth graders spent three days last week at “Outdoor School”.  They rafted the McKenzie River, engaged in flatwater explorations at Dorena Reservoir and completed team building activities and the Spencer Butte Challenge Course.  Our students have had amazing learning experiences in our beautiful state.  Our teachers worked hard to organize these these field trips and kept the students engaged, active and safe.  The teachers at Twin Oaks are amazing!

Twin Oaks Career Day:  “Career Day” is Wednesday, June 12th.  Parents and community members will be presenting information about their careers throughout the day.  We are suggesting that students dress for the future job they want.  Scientist, mechanic, artist, teacher, business owner, lawyer, organic farmer ….. the options are endless.

Fifth Grade Promotion Celebration:  We are celebrating our fifth graders on Thursday, June 13th, 6:30-7:30.  They are completing their years in elementary schools and are ready to be promoted to middle school.  We are excited to recognize this big step in our students’ lives.

Field Day:  Please join us at Field Day on the last day of school, Tuesday, June 18th, 8:15-10:15 am.  There will be games and activities for all.  Classroom teachers will be contacting their students’ parents requesting volunteers to help run their classroom’s activity.

Best Regards!
